Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we turn to you, O Virgins of virgins, our Mother. To you we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not despise our petitions, but in your mercy hear us and answer us. Amen.

The Prayer to Our Lady, also known as the Hail Mary, is a Roman Catholic prayer. It dates back to at least the 11th century in Christianity, but its current form emerged in the 16th century.

The prayer has two parts: the first part is the salutation of the angel Gabriel to Mary at the Annunciation, and the second part is a request for Mary’s intercession.

The prayer was officially included in the Catechism of the Catholic Church in 1992, and it’s one of the most frequently used prayers in Catholicism.
