Act of Offering #3

Lord Jesus Christ,
in union with that divine intention
wherewith on earth Thou didst offer to God
Thy praises through Thy Most Sacred Heart,
and dost now offer them in the Sacrament of the Eucharist
everywhere on earth even to the end of time,
I most gladly offer Thee throughout this entire day,
all my thoughts and intentions,
all my affections and desires,
all my words and deeds,
in imitation of the most sacred Heart of the blessed
and ever Virgin Mary Immaculate.

Amen.

Additional details regarding Act of Offering #3

The Act of Offering is a Catholic prayer traditionally recited at the end of Mass or during moments of personal prayer. This prayer has many variations, but one of the most common is Act of Offering #3, also known as the “Morning Offering.”

The origins of the Act of Offering are not entirely clear, but it is believed to have originated in France during the 19th century. It is said to have been inspired by the writings of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, a French nun who emphasized the importance of offering every moment of life to God.

The Act of Offering #3 specifically became popular during the early 20th century, particularly in the United States, where it was frequently printed in Catholic prayer books and missals. It was also widely promoted by the Apostleship of Prayer, an international Catholic organization founded in 1844.

Today, the Act of Offering #3 remains a popular prayer among Catholics, particularly those who practice daily devotionals or spiritual exercises. It is seen as a way to consecrate one’s entire day to God and to offer all of one’s personal and professional activities as a sacrifice to Him. The prayer reads: “O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all my relatives and friends, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father.”
